Position Overview
The Cashier (Food Service) plays a key role in creating a positive dining experience for Orlando Health patients, visitors, and team members. As the frontline of customer service, you will ensure efficient register operations, accurate transactions, and a welcoming atmosphere in our food service areas.
What You Will Do
Operate registers or computerized order entry systems efficiently and accurately
Maintain knowledge of pricing, prepare cash reports, and complete cash reconciliation
Ensure smooth customer flow while delivering excellent customer service
Identify correct portions and maintain cleanliness of all food service areas, including registers, beverage stations, and take‑out stations
Collect and safely store all charge slips
Model essential service behaviors through open, compassionate, and professional communication
Maintain punctual attendance in alignment with Orlando Health policies and federal standards
Participate in departmental meetings, in‑services, and performance improvement activities
Follow departmental rules, portion controls, cafeteria cash procedures, and tray delivery standards
Adhere to universal precautions and foodborne illness prevention requirements
Interact appropriately with a culturally diverse population
Follow chain of command for departmental concerns
Support patient satisfaction goals by reporting concerns and suggesting creative improvements
Embrace flexibility, rotating shifts, and cross‑training across various food service roles
Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Ability to read and recognize similarities/differences between words and numbers
Ability to write simple correspondence
Ability to respond professionally to common customer inquiries or complaints
180 days of previous cash handling experience required
No licensure or certification required
