Receives and disburses money for payment of goods purchased and assists customers in locating items. Maintains all aspects of condiments area, drink coolers, salad bar and assist with hot bar related items.

Work Schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM, with a daily 30 minute unpaid break.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

A. Enters purchases into cash register to calculate total purchase price.

B. Accepts Cash/Debit/Credit for payments.

C. Adds up bills for catering and gives total to manager to bill out.

D. Maintains sufficient amount of change in cash drawer.

E. Counts money, gives change and issues receipt if requested by customer.

F. Balances cash drawer and receipts; documents discrepancies.

G. Trains new cashiers

H. Assists customers in locating specific items.

I. Maintains salad bar, keeps it stocked

J. Keeps condiment area and drink coolers neat and stocked.

K. Assists in other areas of Grill with such things as clean-up, serving/preparing food and keeping merchandise displayed in an orderly manner.

L. Perform work-related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic.
  • Knowledge of merchandise location and pricing.
  • Skill in handling and counting cash.
  • Ability to effectively communicate.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Understanding of and commitment to the unique nature and role of the College and to the philosophy of the community college system.

Prior cashier experience preferred but not required.

Physical Demands

  • While performing these duties, the employee must have stamina to stand or walk on hard floors for long periods of times.
  • Must have the ability to withstand a wide range of temperatures.
  • The employee occasionally is required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Employees must have strength to lift or move up to 40 pounds alone and with help up to 55 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works with chemical cleaning agents, kitchens utensils, cooking grills, and is exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock, burns, and lacerations.
  • Employee must adhere to all uses of personal protective equipment.
