Cashier

Compensation Details:

Starting pay range of $16.00–$20.00 per hour

As the friendly face at the front of our store, Cashiers create a warm, welcoming, and delightfully helpful experience for everyone who walks through our doors. We greet neighbors, answer questions, and make sure every customer knows they are cared for. We guide people to the right aisle, answer phone calls, and process transactions quickly and accurately.

Some responsibilities may include:

• Working together on teams to deliver an amazing customer experience at the register
• Operating the cash register in a fun, accurate, and efficient manner
• Directing customers to their favorite products and answering questions with confidence
• Answering incoming phone calls and routing them to the right team member
• Helping with special orders and making friendly follow-up calls to customers
• Cleaning, stocking and organizing our front counter and nearby displays
• Pitching in wherever needed to make Oakland Ace Hardware the most helpful store on the planet

Every team member contributes to making our store a vibrant, neighborhood-first hub by participating in all aspects of the job.

Requirements:

• Basic computer skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Passion for people and a willingness to learn about our products and services
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, climb ladders, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Working toward or have obtained a High School Diploma or equivalent
• Weekend availability
• Previous cash-handling, retail, or customer service experience preferred
