Summary
The cashier is responsible for providing positive and friendly customer service. The cashier will operate a cash register to total customers' purchases and accept payments, verifying all prices and quantities are accurate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Greet all customers with a smile and friendly attitude
Record prices, subtotal taxable items, and total purchases on a cash register
Collect acceptable forms of payment from customers and make change for cash transactions
Verify proper identification when accepting checks, for purchases of tobacco and/or alcohol (if applicable), and for lottery sales
Verify and process customers' merchandise returns or refunds
Maintain knowledge of weekly ad
Review price sheets to note price changes and sale items
Maintain a neat and clean work space
Fill pop coolers, tobacco, and candy displays
Promote Lewis initiatives and represent Lewis in a positive manner to our customers and communities
Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required (or in progress)
Ability to handle transactions accurately and responsibly
Excellent communication skills and problem solving abilities
Basic math and computer skills
Physical Requirements
Must be able to stand and remain stationary for long periods of time
Must be able to constantly operate a cash register
Ability to lift/move items up to 10 lbs constantly, up to 20 lbs frequently, and up to 50 lbs occasionally with or without accommodation
