Join the University of Alaska Anchorage's Office of the Bursar team as the next Cashiering Manager and play a pivotal role in keeping the university's financial operations running smoothly. This position leads key payment and student account functions, manages external donor scholarships, and helps maintain strong internal controls that protect university funds by providing training across campus departments. As the Cashiering Manager, you'll oversee campus payment operations while serving as a key member of the Bursar's leadership team. You'll champion high quality student service, streamline processes, and ensure compliance with GAAP and university policies. You'll supervise three talented Accounts Receivable Technicians and up to one student worker, maintain internal controls, ensure payments and deposits are posted accurately and timely, oversee campus ID carding, and serve as a trusted resource for cash handling guidance across campus.
To thrive in this role, a strong candidate will bring excellent communication skills and a commitment to high‑quality customer service, sound knowledge of accounting principles, and the ability to independently interpret and apply complex policies with accuracy and professionalism. This role requires the ability to research issues, think critically, and independently resolve problems. You'll need strong proficiency with electronic information systems-including Banner, spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and email platforms-as well as the ability to operate standard business machines and work confidently with confidential information. Knowledge of UA policies, procedures, and systems related to accounts receivable and finance is essential. Experience with cash handling or internal controls for cash is preferred, and experience supervising staff is also preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, statistics, or related field and 2 years professional fiscal experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Position Details:
This position is located on the Anchorage campus; on-site work is required. This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
