Casting Die Maintenance and Rebuild Specialist

Is this you?
- Do you take pride in restoring casting and trim dies back to blueprint condition?
- Are you comfortable rolling a die with a lift truck, breaking it down, and rebuilding it end-to-end?
- Can you diagnose tooling issues on the fly and make in-press corrections without missing a beat?
What you’ll handle
- Full repair, rebuild, and preventive maintenance of casting and trim dies in line with original specifications, using all associated machines and equipment
- Direction and work priorities provided by a Team Leader and/or Supervisor
- Safe transport, cleaning, disassembly, repair, and reassembly using lift trucks, die-cleaning systems, and cranes
- Fabrication/replacement of segments, cores, details, and parts from blueprints using the appropriate tools
- Precision draw-polishing and grinding of die cavity surfaces
- On-machine interventions: remove stuck castings, correct dimensional problems, and change cores and trim punches while dies remain mounted
- Welding tasks in both the foundry and the Die Repair Department
- Troubleshooting production tooling and executing needed repairs and maintenance
- Documentation: complete forms, die work orders, pictorials, sign-offs, and records
- Housekeeping: keep your area and department clean and orderly
- Mentorship: assist with training new employees
- Other assignments that support the safe and efficient operation of tool and die repair
Shifts and pay
- Second Shift: 3:00pm - 11:00pm
- Third Shift: 11:00pm - 7:00am
- Rate: $35.00 per hour
What you bring
- Role-related experience you can explain in detail; up to 2 years of training may be required; Tool & Die Journeyman papers are a plus (not required)
- Minimum 2 years of experience draw-polishing or grinding die cavities with the required tools/equipment
- Ability to execute highly skilled work and resolve complex problems
- Associate degree, trade/technical school background, or journeyperson certification required
