Job Purpose

Responsible for delivering growth, evaluating selection decisions, handling brand relationships, improving customer experience and maintaining optimal inventory levels.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversees merchandising and sales strategies for assigned categories.
• Coordinates with vendors and other departments to identify market and sales trends to address customer and client needs.
• Analyzes data and/or insights to determine industry and consumer trends.
• Devises long term development strategies for across product categories.
• Develops exit strategies for unsuccessful or obsolete products.
• Fosters trust with vendors and internal teams to achieve best pricing and quality of services
• Orders effectively to ensure product availability meets consumer demands.
• Determines positioning of product categories to maximize visibility.
• Collaborates with marketing teams to determine competitive pricing and promotional activities across relevant categories.
• Collaborates with category managers to expand product categories.
• Forecasts for product demand to ensure sustainability of inventory.
• Responsible for budget development and revenue for assigned category/categories.

Skills and Education Requirements

• Proven experience as category manager or experience in a similar role.
• Extensive knowledge of category management, marketing, and sales principles.
• Understanding of data analysis and forecasting methods/tools.
• Proficient in MS Office with emphasis in spreadsheets.
• Must have strategic and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• BS/BA in business administration, marketing, or related field.
• Competent using Tecsys Software.
• Experience with product fulfilment.
• Ability to understand and focus on customer needs in a retail environment.
