Position Specific Description
An ideal candidate for the Principal Category Specialist shall be a highly self-directed professional with strong organizational capabilities, demonstrating the ability to lead meetings and make informed business decisions. Possesses a strong knowledge in contracting, including a thorough understanding of terms and conditions, and communicates effectively with executive leadership. Additionally, exhibits a proven capacity to mentor, guide, and develop peers while operating with minimal oversight
Job Overview
This role defines overarching category strategies, particularly for high-spend, high-complexity categories. Employees in this role approve major contracts, lead strategic supplier negotiations, and engage with suppliers to ensure cohesive strategic decisions. This individual contributor acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for category management and advises on complex issues and decisions.
