    Description

    Position Summary

    Larkin's Catering & Events is seeking an experienced, energetic, and service-focused Catering & Events Captain to lead exceptional events both on-site at our venues and off-site throughout the Upstate. As the event leader, the Catering Captain oversees service staff, coordinates event execution, and ensures every event reflects the hospitality and professionalism that define the Larkin's brand.

    The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, confident leading a team, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where no two events are the same.

    Essential Responsibilities

    • Lead event setup, execution, and breakdown for on-site and off-site catered events.
    • Supervise banquet servers and event staff while maintaining high service standards.
    • Communicate effectively with clients, chefs, sales managers, and venue staff to ensure seamless event execution.
    • Conduct pre-event team meetings and assign responsibilities.
    • Ensure all food and beverage service meets company standards and health department regulations.
    • Resolve guest concerns professionally and promptly.
    • Verify event timelines are followed and all event details are executed accurately.
    • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of event spaces and equipment.
    • Complete event paperwork, inventories, and required reports.
    • Safely transport or oversee transportation of catering equipment when necessary.
    • Represent Larkin's Catering & Events with professionalism, courtesy, and hospitality at every event.

    Qualifications

    • Previous banquet, catering, restaurant leadership, or hospitality management experience preferred.
    • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
    • Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities.
    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Must possess a valid driver's license in good standing and maintain reliable transportation.
    • Must hold a ServSafe Alcohol certification or be able to obtain certification within 30 days of employment.
    • ServSafe Food Protection certification is a plus.
    • Must be available to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended event hours.

    Physical Requirements

    To perform the essential functions of this position, employees must be able to:

    • Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly.
    • Stand and walk for extended periods, often 8–12 hours during events.
    • Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, and climb stairs.
    • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
    • Load, unload, and transport catering equipment, tables, chairs, and service items safely.
