CATERING OPERATIONS & EVENTS MANAGER

Operations Leadership | Catering Execution | Team Performance

Salary: $55,000-$60,000 / year

ABOUT THE ROLE

Hightop Hospitality is seeking a hands-on Catering Operations & Events Manager to lead execution across our growing, multi-brand catering division. This role takes ownership of events in the final planning phase, ensuring each is operationally sound, fully prepared, and executed at a consistently high standard.

You will translate detailed event plans into seamless, high-quality guest experiences. You’ll collaborate closely with sales, culinary, and venue partners to align expectations and build clear, executable plans for service teams. Working alongside Event Leads (Captains), you’ll provide oversight, support, and accountability for execution. On event days, you’ll be actively involved—directing teams, managing setup and flow, and ensuring every detail is delivered with precision.

We’re looking for a highly detail-oriented leader who values structure, communicates proactively, and builds confidence through strong organization and follow-through. Events range from intimate, high-touch gatherings to large-scale functions of 500+ guests across the Twin Cities, surrounding suburbs, and occasional regional venues.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Event Planning, Detailing & Logistics

  • Manage final event detailing with clients, confirming timelines, menus, layouts, bar offerings, and service expectations
  • Review and refine event details developed by sales to ensure they are operationally executable
  • Build and finalize BEOs and event documentation that clearly translate plans into action for culinary and service teams
  • Develop staffing plans based on event size, service style, and overall complexity
  • Coordinate logistics across food production, bar, rentals, and service teams
  • Oversee packing, staging, and load-out processes to ensure all events leave fully prepared and organized
  • Identify gaps, inconsistencies, or risks in advance and resolve them prior to event day

 Event Execution & On-Site Leadership

  • Oversee end-to-end event execution, with full accountability for food quality, bar service, and overall guest experience
  • Direct and support Event Leads, Servers, and Bartenders throughout setup, service, and breakdown
  • Ensure all elements arrive on-site in proper condition and are set up efficiently and to standard
  • Oversee presentation and execution of buffets, stations, passed service, and bar operations
  • Maintain strong awareness of event timing, flow, and service transitions throughout the event
  • Step into lead or support roles as needed based on event size and team structure
  • Troubleshoot challenges in real time, making thoughtful adjustments while maintaining composure and professionalism
  • Remain hands-on as needed, supporting setup, food finishing, service execution, and team coordination

Team Alignment & Operational Consistency

  • Ensure service teams arrive prepared, informed, and aligned with the execution plan
  • Reinforce consistent standards for food presentation, service, and guest interaction
  • Provide clear direction and maintain strong on-site leadership presence in fast-paced, high-pressure event environments
  • Build credibility with teams through preparation, organization, and calm, confident leadership

Venue & Partner Collaboration

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with venue partners and on-site contacts
  • Ensure seamless coordination between catering execution and venue operations
  • Participate in site visits and walkthroughs to support readiness for complex or large-scale events

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • Events are executed smoothly, on time, and at a consistently high standard
  • Events arrive fully prepared, organized, and ready for efficient setup and service
  • Teams feel confident, supported, and clear on expectations
  • Problems are anticipated and resolved early, minimizing impact during live service
  • Food, bar, and service presentation consistently meet or exceed expectations
  • Venue partners and clients view you as a reliable, professional operator

WHO THRIVES IN THIS ROLE

  • A hands-on operator who enjoys being actively involved in execution, not just planning
  • Someone who finds satisfaction in being highly prepared, organized, and detail-oriented
  • A calm, confident operator who performs well under pressure and adapts quickly
  • A leader who values transparency, clear expectations, and strong communication
  • Someone who takes pride in delivering polished, high-quality events and supporting teams to execute at a high level

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • 2+ years of catering, hospitality, or event operations experience in a high-volume environment
  • Experience supervising service staff during live events, including servers, bartenders, or leads
  • Strong understanding of food service, bar service, and presentation standards
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple events while maintaining attention to detail and organization
  • Confident communicator with the ability to align clients, teams, and partners
  • A hands-on, solutions-oriented mindset with comfort working actively on-site
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to stay composed in fast-paced environments
  • High level of personal organization, accountability, and follow-through
  • Availability for evenings, weekends, and a variable schedule based on event volume
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Valid driver’s license

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Salary: $55,000-60,000
  • Health and dental benefits
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off
  • Company laptop
  • Cell phone stipend
  • Mileage reimbursement
  • Opportunities for growth
