Position Summary - Salary Range $75,000 - $80,000 DOE

The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for generating catering revenue while providing exceptional service throughout the planning and execution process. This position oversees catering sales, event detailing, management of group room blocks, and wedding room block sales. The Catering Sales Manager serves as the primary liaison between clients and hotel operations to ensure seamless execution and memorable guest experiences.

Essential Functions

Catering Sales & Revenue Generation

  • Prospect, solicit, and secure catering and social event business to achieve revenue goals.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries and prepare proposals, contracts, and Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
  • Conduct site tours and maintain relationships with local businesses, wedding planners, and community organizations.
  • Maximize food and beverage revenue through upselling opportunities and customized event experiences.
  • Participate in networking events and community functions to promote the hotel.

Event Planning & Detailing

  • Serve as the primary contact for clients throughout the planning process.
  • Detail all catering and social events, ensuring accuracy and timely communication with hotel departments.
  • Prepare and distribute Banquet Event Orders and ensure all event specifications are executed properly.
  • Conduct pre-convention and pre-event meetings with clients and operational teams.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients to encourage repeat business and referrals.

Group Room Block Management

  • Manage all contracted group room blocks and monitor pickup and attrition.
  • Coordinate rooming lists, reservation cut-off dates, and group billing arrangements.
  • Work closely with Revenue Management and Front Office teams to maximize occupancy and guest satisfaction.
  • Communicate changes and updates to internal departments to ensure flawless execution.

Wedding Group Sales

  • Generate and manage wedding room block business.
  • Partner with wedding planners and local venues to increase market share.
  • Conduct site tours and develop customized proposals for wedding groups.
  • Coordinate all room block details and ensure exceptional service throughout the guest experience.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records in Delphi/FDC or applicable sales systems.
  • Ensure contracts and deposits are collected according to company standards.
  • Attend weekly sales and operations meetings.
  • Maintain knowledge of market trends and competitive activity.
  • Provide timely updates on catering, wedding, and group room block activity to the Director of Sales and communicate any opportunities or challenges impacting business.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of hotel sales, catering, or event management experience preferred.
  • Experience with catering sales, group room blocks, or wedding business preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple events simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and hotel sales systems, preferably Delphi.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends based on business demands.
