Position Overview
The Cardiovascular Technologist in the Cath Lab, guided by the director or charge person, is responsible for overseeing procedures related to both diagnostic and interventional catheterization studies for coronary and peripheral cases. This role emphasizes ensuring patient safety and includes responsibilities as a scrub assistant.
Qualifications
Educational Background:
- Associate’s Degree in Cardiovascular Technology
- OR Associate’s Degree in Radiologic Technology
- OR Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy
Alternative Experience: If educational qualifications are not met, a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience is required.
Additionally, candidates must obtain one of the following certifications within 12 months of employment:
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)
- OR Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES)
Licensure and Certification Requirements
- Preferred: Florida Certified Radiologic Technologist license with a valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification
- OR Preferred: Florida Registered Respiratory Therapist license with a valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) Certification
- OR Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) Certification (to be obtained within 12 months if no relevant degree is held)
- BLS and ACLS certifications are required
Special Skills and Additional Qualifications
- Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English is essential
