Cath Lab Manager

Job Summary

The Cath Lab Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and operational efficiency of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, including Electrophysiology (EP), Neuro, Vascular, and Cardiac Day Admission and Recovery (DAR) services. This role is accountable for patient throughput, staff performance, resource utilization, patient safety, regulatory compliance, quality improvement initiatives, and overall cath lab flow and capacity management.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop team schedules, assignments, and daily staff responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with the Cardiac Cath Supervisor and Lead Technologist to oversee daily cath lab operations.
  • Ensure efficient patient flow through CDAR, cath lab recovery, and procedural areas.
  • Identify operational issues, investigate concerns, and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Develop and maintain processes that maximize cath lab utilization and efficiency.
  • Improve procedural workflows and patient throughput.
  • Monitor compliance with internal standards and external regulatory requirements, including:
    • The Joint Commission
    • New Jersey Department of Health (DOH)
    • OSHA
    • Federal and other regulatory agencies
  • Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements related to:
    • Risk Management
    • Patient Bill of Rights
    • Other applicable governing agencies
  • Establish, monitor, and analyze unit-based quality and performance indicators.
  • Support standards development, continuing education, credentialing, performance evaluations, utilization review, risk management, and process improvement activities.
  • Promote and oversee evidence-based practice and guide staff in its implementation.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of clinical cardiology experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in critical care, clinical cardiology, interventional radiology, perioperative services, or a closely related specialty.
  • Current endovascular and/or cardiac catheterization experience required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong leadership and team management experience.
  • Moderate computer proficiency.

Schedule

  • Monday Friday
  • 8:00 AM 4:30 PM
  • 5 x 8-hour shifts
  • No weekends
  • No holidays
  • No on-call requirement

Physical Requirements

  • Lift a minimum of 5 lbs.
  • Push/pull a minimum of 10 lbs.
  • Stand for a minimum of 4 hours per day.
