Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Cath Lab Registered Nurse to join a collaborative cardiovascular care team in Brunswick, Georgia.
The Cath Lab RN provides direct nursing care to adult and geriatric patients before, during, and after cardiac catheterization procedures. This position also assists the cardiologist throughout each procedure and performs the clinical, technical, and administrative duties required to support a safe and efficient cardiac catheterization laboratory.
This opportunity is well suited for an RN with Cath Lab, ICU, Emergency Department, IMCU, or other critical care experience who is comfortable working in a procedural environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform circulator, scrub, and procedure-recording responsibilities during cardiac catheterization procedures.
- Assist cardiologists and other clinical team members throughout all phases of cardiac catheterization.
- Complete and document comprehensive nursing assessments to identify and prioritize patient needs.
- Develop, implement, reassess, and update individualized plans of care.
- Closely monitor patients before, during, and after procedures.
- Immediately communicate changes in cardiac rhythm, blood pressure, pain level, mental status, or overall condition to the physician.
- Administer medications and intravenous therapies while monitoring and documenting patient responses and potential side effects.
- Follow established guidelines for moderate sedation and complete required conscious-sedation competencies.
- Maintain compliance with infection-control policies, universal precautions, and patient-safety standards.
- Calibrate and prepare Cath Lab equipment as needed.
- Accurately maintain patient records, departmental logs, procedural documentation, and patient charges.
- Assist with the orientation and preceptorship of nursing students and newly hired staff.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate Degree, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.
- Minimum of two years of experience in one or more of the following:
- Cardiac Cath Lab
- Intensive Care Unit
- Emergency Department
- Intermediate Care Unit
- Complex telemetry
- Other critical care setting
- Current Registered Nurse license to practice in the State of Georgia.
- Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification.
- Ability to complete required IV conscious-sedation competencies.
- Strong cardiac assessment, critical-thinking, and emergency-response skills.
- Previous ICU, Cath Lab, or critical care experience is strongly preferred.
