JOB TITLE: Cath Lab Registered Nurse (Part-Time)
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Cath Lab Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular and peripheral vascular procedures in the ASC setting. The RN functions in pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure phases of care while ensuring compliance with CMS ASC Conditions for Coverage, infection control standards, and patient safety regulations.
REQUIREMENTS:
CLINICAL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Advanced cardiac rhythm interpretation
ACLS certification (required)
Moderate sedation competency validation
Hemodynamic monitoring proficiency
Knowledge of:
Anticoagulants and antiplatelets
Contrast safety protocols
Radiation safety principles
Ability to respond to emergencies until transfer if needed
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pre-Procedure Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive nursing assessments including:
Cardiac history and physical review
Medication reconciliation (anticoagulants, antiplatelets, insulin, etc.)
Allergy and contrast risk screening
Renal function review (baseline creatinine/GFR)
Verify informed consent.
Initiate IV access and administer pre-procedure medications.
Ensure proper site preparation (radial/femoral).
Confirm NPO status and procedural time-out compliance.
Educate patients and families regarding procedure and post-care instructions.
