Description:

The Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist is responsible for assisting physicians during diagnostic and therapeutic cardiovascular procedures. Operating as a critical member of the clinical team, you will maintain proficiency across all aspects of Cardiac Cath Lab procedures, delivering high-quality patient care with a high degree of autonomy and minimal supervision.


Key Responsibilities

  • Procedure Assistance: Scrub in and assist physicians with diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures (e.g., catheterizations, angioplasties, stenting).

  • Technical Proficiency: Operate complex imaging, monitoring, and data acquisition equipment safely and effectively.

  • Patient Care: Prepare patients for procedures, monitor vital signs and hemodynamics throughout, and provide post-procedure care and documentation.

  • Team Collaboration: Partner closely with a multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, nurses, and technicians to ensure efficient lab workflows and optimal patient outcomes.

  • Emergency Response: Maintain readiness to respond to acute cardiac emergencies and adhere to strict safety and radiation protocols.


Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology OR an academic program of Health Sciences / Invasive Cardiovascular Technology.

    • Alternative: Formal education requirement is waived if the candidate has been credentialed as an RCIS by the CCI since 2013 or earlier.

Licenses & Certifications

Candidates must hold Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and possess the specific license combinations outlined below:

  • Life Support: Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS).

  • Imaging/Cardiovascular Credentials: Must possess at least one (1) of the following active credentials:

    • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) via Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)

    • Registered Radiology Technologist (ARRT-R) with Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) state licensure

    • Registered Radiological Technologist in Cardiovascular-Interventional Technology (ARRT-CV) via the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists


Work Schedule & Operational Requirements

  • Shift Structure: 4 x 10-hour shifts per week.

  • Hours: 07:00 AM – 05:30 PM, variable days.

  • On-Call Commitment: 10 to 12 days within a five-week rotation period to ensure 24-hour department coverage.

  • Response Time: Must be able to respond and arrive at the facility within 30 minutes when on call.
