Catholic Music Director

The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:

The Catholic Mass Music Director for the Eglin AFB Catholic Service overseas the music program for the Catholic Community.
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor’s degree in music or a minimum of four years’ experience leading Catholic choirs or directing Catholic worship music.
2. Have a working knowledge of worship music used in Catholic worship settings and other religious services.  Must also have the ability to learn teach and direct new songs.
3. Effectively read, play and perform music or accompaniment on both the organ and piano.
4. Applicants will provide an audition/demo prior to being awarded the position.
5. Applicants will provide a resume documenting these required qualifications prior to being requested to audition.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Direct Music  at the 0800 and 1100 Mass in coordination with the Wing Chaplain and the Catholic Priest.  Make mass music selections.
2. Direct weekly rehearsals Mass in coordination with the Chaplain and the Catholic Music Director.  Rehearse and provide direction for special holy days and rehearsals (up to 15/year) when needed.
3. Oversee special music during the mass when needed.
4. Recruit and train volunteers for the choir as needed.
5. Arrive 30 minutes prior to the mass for set-up and warm-up sessions.
6. Ensure instruments, music stands, microphone stands and microphone cords are set up before and put away after services and rehearsals as well as proper care of equipment.

This position is subject to a background check and compliance with Air Force standards and regulations.
