Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill up to 12 part-time a maximum of 24 hours per week during academic terms and a maximum of 40 hours per week during academic breaks Student Technical Assistant positions for the Columbia Basin Agricultural Research Center at Oregon State University OSU.This recruitment will be used to fill up to 12 summer agricultural research positions located in Adams Oregon at the Columbia Basin Agricultural Research Center. These positions will perform routine to complex technical or specialized tasks in support of research and clinical work. Some positions may include laboratory research greenhouse operations field plotting data collection and simple analysis.Depending on the team the candidate is hired onto travel within Oregon Washington and Idaho may be required as well as occasional overnight stays at those locations.

Position Duties
100 duties to be determined by CBARC faculty may include Field or bench top research Laboratory set-up and maintenance Greenhouse operations Field plotting Data collection and analysis and other related tasks Field and plot weeding Planting & transplanting of plants in the field greenhouses & screen houses General farm work including but not limited to harvest activities and farm equipment awareness and safety trainings as needed Depending on your class schedule work hours per week will vary from 20-40 hrs per week.

Must be academically enrolled in a high school community college or university and pursuing a program or course of study
Must meet Academic Standing Requirements students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
High School student Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student 6 credit hours per term
Undergraduate international student 12 credit hours per term
Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School 5 credit hours per term
Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School 9 credit hours per term
International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services USCIS. A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services OIS and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Working Conditions
Work Schedule
Work is performed in a typical outdoor eastern Oregon agricultural setting and laboratory research facility to be determined by the faculty at CBARC.May be exposed to hot summer temperatures walking on uneven terrain loud noises and agricultural machinery. May need to maneuver up to 50 lbs. and may be required to stoop bend and kneel as necessary to complete research projects as assigned.Normal hours during the summer months are 730 a.m. to 400 p.m. Some travel andor overtime may be required.
