A day on the road

You begin with a thorough pre-trip inspection—checking brakes, lights, tires, and confirming every strap and chain is tight. You plan the route, balancing urban traffic with rural stretches, then roll out in a flatbed tractor-trailer to make precise, on-time deliveries. Along the way, you handle a variety of freight, including specialized loads such as refrigerated goods or tankers, always safeguarding product integrity. You stay in close contact with dispatch to update schedules, load status, and any issues. After the final stop, you wrap up a post-trip inspection and close out accurate, DOT-compliant logs of hours, inspections, load details, and delivery documentation.

What you’ll do

  • Operate flatbed tractor-trailers on assigned routes while adhering to all traffic laws and safety standards.
  • Complete meticulous pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including brakes, lights, tires, and load security.
  • Navigate both urban and rural areas with a focus on punctuality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Handle specialized freight such as refrigerated goods or tankers with care to maintain product integrity.
  • Communicate clearly with dispatch on delivery timing, load status, and any in-transit concerns.
  • Maintain precise records of hours, inspections, load particulars, and delivery paperwork in full compliance with DOT regulations.

What you bring

  • Valid CDL-A with proven truck driving experience; prior flatbed hauling experience is REQUIRED.
  • Hands-on ability to strap, unstrap, and secure open-deck loads is REQUIRED.
  • Experience driving routes across diverse terrain with strong safety and time-management habits.
  • Knowledge of freight handling for multiple cargo types and best practices for securing loads on flatbeds or other trailers.
  • Solid understanding of DOT rules covering commercial driving and vehicle maintenance.
  • Delivery background that demonstrates reliability, punctuality, and professional customer service.
