The primary function of a Heavy Haul Driver is to drive a flat bed, heavy duty flat bed, tractor with Landoll trailer, tractor with flat deck or drop deck trailer, and a tractor with a Lowboy trailer. Driver will use this equipment to move objects or heavy equipment for customers. This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Heavy Haul Coordinator.
Essential Job Functions:
Able to drive all vehicles assigned, which may include manual transmissions.
Maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions, checking that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
Load cargo in a safe manner as trained, including operating heavy equipment as required to load/unload.
Responsible for general maintenance of truck, including but not limited to: checking oil and fuel levels.
Complete all "pre-trip" requirements before each truck run and "post-trip" requirement at the end of each shift.
Able to push 96 pounds and pull 130 pounds and lift 63 pounds.
Able to climb ladder with a minimum of 3 rungs regularly.
Able to read and navigate road maps and GPS systems.
Confirm that all necessary permits are obtained before delivering load.
Able to drive in hazardous conditions, including inclement weather, tight quarters, and inner-city locations.
Handle exposure to heavy traffic, dust, fumes, high and low temperatures, slippery surfaces, low-lighted work areas and high noise levels.
Able to communicate via written orders and instructions.
Demonstrate professionalism; be courteous and friendly to customers and co-workers at all times.
Follow company quality, safety and environmental guidelines as well as employee handbook policies.
Regular and reliable attendance and presence at work.
Good interpersonal skills.
Able to effectively perform responsibilities under a high level of stress.
Operate in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Preform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications/Experience/Education:
3+ years truck driving experience.
Valid CDL class A license required. Hazmat endorsement preferred.
Able to pass pre-employment DOT physical, drug screen, Clearinghouse verification and 7-year criminal background check.
