The primary function of the Transport Driver is to drive a tractor trailer combination with a capacity of at least 145,000 GVW to transport and deliver goods, or materials in various forms. This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Driver Manager.
Essential Job Functions:
• Be available to work flexible hours, including holidays, with shifts potentially extending up to 12 hours or more, all while adhering to hours-of-service regulations. • Safely and efficiently transport fuel from pickup to delivery points, strictly following established safety protocols. • Maintain accurate logs of working hours and vehicle service and repair status, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. • Collaborate closely with dispatch to plan optimal delivery routes, maximizing efficiency and effectiveness. • Verify that the truck is loaded with the correct fuels for each drop location, ensuring accuracy and adherence to delivery instructions. • Deliver products in precise quantities as specified by dispatch and accompanying paperwork. • Promptly report any DOT fines, citations, or other relevant issues to safety and dispatch. • Communicate effectively with safety and dispatch regarding any customer-related concerns or incidents, such as complaints, spills, leaks, accidents, or injuries. • Communicate with maintenance in regard to any vehicle issues or needs and report any issues immediately. • Ability to operate all vehicles assigned to them, including manual transmission trucks. • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the truck at all times, ensuring a professional appearance. • Maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions, checking that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned. • Load fuels as directed at designated truck racks, utilizing fuel arms and hoses safely and efficiently. • Responsible for general maintenance of truck, including but not limited to checking oil and fuel levels. • Complete all "pre-trip" requirements before each truck run and "post-trip" requirement at the end of each shift. • Able to push 122 pounds, pull 130 pounds, lift 90 pounds, and maneuver fuel hoses that are 100 pounds each. • Able to climb ladder with a minimum of 3 rungs regularly throughout shift. • Proficiently operate dispatch software and electronic logging devices (ELDs) to facilitate efficient operations. • Ability to read and complete written documentation with respect to Bill of Lading, Inventory, Pre and Post trips inspections, Orders and Fuel ticket copies. Ensure fuel tickets match orders. • Adapt to various environmental conditions, including exposure to dust, fumes, temperature extremes, slippery surfaces, low-lit areas, heavy traffic, and high noise levels, with professionalism and adherence to safety protocols. • Navigate hazardous driving conditions, including inclement weather, tight quarters, and inner-city locations, with skill and caution. • Regular and reliable attendance and presence at work. • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships with customers and colleagues through professionalism, courtesy, and friendliness. • Follow company quality, safety and environmental guidelines as well as employee handbook policies. • Ability to effectively perform responsibilities under a high level of stress. • Operate with constant alertness and prioritize safety in all tasks. • Fulfill any additional duties assigned by management, contributing to the overall success and efficiency of the team.
Qualifications / Experience / Education:
• Valid CDL class A license with Hazmat, Air Brakes, and Tanker endorsements. • 3+ years truck driving experience and 1+ experience operating equipment - preferred. • Pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, Clearinghouse verification, and 7-year criminal background check.
