CDL Behind-the-Wheel Training Instructor
Overview: Grayson College is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced CDL Behind-the-Wheel Training Instructor for the Commercial Driver License program. The CDL BTW Instructor is responsible for hands-on CDL instruction on the training range and public roadways, ensuring students meet all FMCSA proficiency requirements for CDL testing and safe commercial vehicle operation. This role ensures that students receive high-quality instruction aligned with state and federal regulations while promoting safety. This position reports to Grayson College's Director of CDL and Logistics. This is a part-time position and pay will be approximately $32 - $35 per hour based upon experience and endorsements. Teaching hours may be a combination of morning and/or afternoon sessions based upon enrollment and are subject to change.
Responsibilities:
75% Coordinate and deliver BTW instruction (Range and Public Road), scheduling, ELDT curriculum implementation, vehicle maintenance, and compliance documentation. Ensure compliance with Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), FMCSA, TXDOT and other applicable state and federal requirements. Maintain accurate student records.
Range Training: off-road training focusing on basic vehicle control, backing skills, and vehicle inspection procedures.
Public Road Training: real-world driving scenarios, such as navigating highways, making turns, and lane changes
10% Works as a team member in the Industrial Technologies Department.
10% Support student learning and program outcomes.
5% Performs other duties as assigned.
