Company Overview
Peak Environmental has been a trusted leader in complex residential and commercial outdoor living and landscape development projects throughout Saratoga County for nearly 30 years. We specialize in the design, construction, and management of high-quality landscapes that are built to last.
Our work is guided by four core values: Safety, Craftsmanship, Teamwork, and Planet. We take pride in doing things the right way, taking care of our people, and delivering projects that our customers are proud to show off.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a CDL Driver and Heavy Equipment Operator to join our Site Work Crew in Round Lake, NY. In this role, you will prepare and build the foundation for complex landscape construction projects that transform outdoor spaces for residential and commercial clients.
This is a hands-on role where you will operate heavy machinery, perform excavation, and help set up the critical site infrastructure that makes every project possible. If you enjoy working outdoors, value safety, and want steady full-time work with room to grow your skills, this is a strong long-term career opportunity.
What You'll Do
- Operate heavy equipment and perform excavation for residential and commercial landscape construction projects.
- Transport materials and equipment safely between our Round Lake location and job sites using your CDL license.
- Prepare sites accurately for all trades using construction math and layout principles to ensure correct elevations and grades.
- Support the layout and installation of footings, drainage systems, and site infrastructure that form the backbone of each project.
- Read and interpret blueprints to assist with site layout, grading, and overall project planning in the field.
- Measure and set grades using a laser transit to achieve precise site conditions and water management.
- Make sound decisions on site that balance safety, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
- Follow and enforce safety protocols, contributing to a culture of safe, high-quality workmanship on every job.
What Success Looks Like
- Within your first 3–6 months, you consistently complete excavation and site preparation tasks safely, on time, and to spec with minimal rework.
- You are trusted to operate multiple types of heavy equipment and handle CDL driving duties reliably between the yard and job sites.
- Foremen and crew members rely on you for accurate grades, clean layouts, and well-prepared sites that keep projects moving smoothly.
- You actively contribute to a positive, team-oriented job site where safety, craftsmanship, and communication are daily priorities.
What We're Looking For
- Hands-on heavy equipment operation and excavation experience, ideally 1–3 years in site work or a related field.
- CDL Class A or Class B license, along with a valid driver’s license and reliable ability to commute to Round Lake, NY 12151.
- Experience or strong aptitude in reading blueprints, using construction math, and understanding site layout and grading.
- Comfort working outdoors in a physically active, crew-based environment with a strong commitment to safety and workmanship.
- Experience with footings, drainage, and infrastructure installation and using a laser transit is a plus.
