Position Summary We are seeking a reliable, safety-conscious Roll-Off Truck Driver to join our fleet operations. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating a commercial roll-off truck to transport open-top containers, compactors, and construction debris to and from customer locations, landfills, and transfer stations. This is a physically demanding, local driving position that requires excellent spatial awareness, strong customer service skills, and absolute compliance with all DOT and environmental regulations
Essential Responsibilities
Vehicle Operation: Safely maneuver and operate a commercial roll-off truck in tight, high-traffic commercial, residential, and construction environments.
Container Management: Align, hoist, secure, and drop off large metal waste and recycling containers using hydraulic hoist and cable systems. Properly tarp loads to prevent debris from escaping during transport.
Safety & Compliance: Strictly adhere to all DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and local waste regulations. Maintain accurate records and tracking logs.
Inspections & Maintenance: Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections (DVIR). Report mechanical defects or maintenance issues to fleet dispatch immediately.
Customer Service: Serve as the frontline representative of our company. Communicate courteously with site managers and customers to ensure containers are placed exactly where requested.
Route Efficiency: Collaborate closely with the dispatch team via phones/tablets to manage route sequences, report delays, or handle unexpected service requests.
Qualifications:
Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of professional commercial driving experience (experience with roll-off hoist or dump truck systems is highly preferred).
Driving Record: Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with no serious recent violations or at-fault accidents.
Medical Certification: Must possess and maintain a current DOT Medical Card.
Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of safe driving protocols, heavy vehicle mechanics, and FMCSA Hours of Service regulations.
Communication: Ability to read, speak, and write sufficiently in English to communicate with dispatch and complete regulatory paperwork.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Stamina & Strength: Ability to lift, pull, or carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift (e.g., pulling heavy cables, operating manual tarps).
Mobility: Ability to mount and dismount heavy commercial trucks frequently, climb ladders, walk on uneven job-site terrain, and sit for extended driving periods.
Environment: Comfortable working outdoors in all types of weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, or snow.
Schedule: Standard local day shifts (frequently Monday–Friday), with occasional voluntary or required weekend/overtime hours based on regional business volume.
