Position Overview: The position of Truck Driver - CDL will be responsible for making deliveries to construction projects.
LOCAL APPLICANTS ONLY (Must be able to report to the Shop each day)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducts pre and post trip inspections
- Makes deliveries to construction projects using various forms of trailers, including, but not limited to flat deck, step deck, stretch, landoll, dump, log, walking floor, and lowboy, sometimes in very tight spaces.
- On occasion, will be responsible for driving Class B dump, water, delivery and fuel trucks.
- Conducts all job duties safely
- Reports all accidents and incidents to Safety Department
Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of related experience required.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
- Current North Carolina CDL Driver's License, required
- Hazmat Endorsement, preferred
- Tanker Endorsement, preferred
- Valid Medical Card, required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Must have a good driving record
- Ability to drive a commercial tractor and various forms of trailers, including, but not limited to flat deck, step deck, stretch, land all, dump, log, walking floor, and lowboy.
- Ability to drive a dump, water, delivery, and fuel truck
- Able to read and comprehend simple instruction, short correspondence, and memos
- Able to write simple correspondence and maintain required paperwork by regulation and the company
- Able to effectively communicate information (delays, etc.) in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and employees in a respectful manner.
- Must be able to operate the vehicle in a safe, lawful, and courteous manner at all times
- Ability to apply common sense understanding in order to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Manage time effectively.
- Maintain a valid medical card
- Must have knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier standards
- Must be able to use a GPS
- Able to communicate and provide feedback to team members and management in a professional and effective manner
- Must be able to keep the company vehicles clean (interior and exterior)

Physical Demands:
- Must be able to climb on, over and around heavy highway construction vehicles in order to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections as well as properly secure loads
- Must be able to lift truck hoods, product or equipment and tools necessary to perform inspection, repair, loading and unloading trucks.
- Able to walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions.
- Capable of lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds.
- Capable of sitting, standing, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- Visual accuracy under varying degrees of light, darkness, and weather conditions.
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time
- Able to travel overnight, if required.
Environmental Working Conditions:
- Outdoors exposed to changing weather conditions (i.e., rain, sun, snow, wind, etc.)
- Noise level in the work environment is loud.
- Exposure to dust, grease, gasoline, diesel fuel, concrete, and other environmental factors of a construction job site.
