Who We Are

The College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) Career Success Hub is seeking up to four enthusiastic and motivated students to serve as Peer Career Coaches (PCCs) for the 2026-2027 academic year. In this role, PCCs will provide peer-to-peer career support, helping fellow students build confidence, strengthen career readiness skills, and connect with Career Success Hub resources.

PCCs will work closely with the Director of Student Engagement for Career Success to coach CECS students on co-op/internship/job searching, develop or enhance career programs and resources, and support administrative tasks. This is a paid, on-campus leadership opportunity that provides valuable professional development and applied experience.

Job Summary

The College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) Career Success Hub is seeking four enthusiastic and motivated students to serve as Peer Career Coaches (PCCs) in Fall 2025-Winter 2026. In this role, PCCs will provide peer-to-peer career support, helping fellow students build confidence, strengthen career readiness skills, and connect with Career Success Hub resources.

PCCs will work closely with the Director of Student Engagement for Career Success to coach CECS students on co-op/internship/job searching, develop or enhance career programs and resources, and support administrative tasks. This is a paid, on-campus leadership opportunity that provides valuable professional development and applied experience.

Responsibilities*

Peer Career Coaches will:

• Provide drop-in coaching and support to current students on resumes, LinkedIn profiles, interview preparation, use of career tools and resources, and co-op/internship/job search strategies.
• Manage and respond to student resume review requests using designated systems (e.g., Big Resume and/or online request forms), including triaging submissions, providing feedback, and ensuring timely follow-up.
• Serve as a first point of contact for students with career-related questions and provide appropriate referrals to the Director of Student Engagement for Career Success and/or other campus resources as needed.
• Design, plan, and facilitate career development workshops and related programming, which may include resume building, LinkedIn optimization, interview preparation, and job/internship search strategies.
• Support broader student engagement initiatives, which may include classroom visits, employer events, alumni networking programs, student organization collaborations, and development of career resources and tools.
• Represent and promote the CECS Career Success Hub at events.
• Participate in required onboarding training, as well as ongoing training, reflection, and team meetings throughout the year.
• Assist with projects and other administrative tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

• Must be a current CECS student in good academic standing
• Strong interest in helping peers succeed in their career development
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Comfortable presenting to and engaging groups of peers (or willingness to develop this skill)
• Reliable, responsible, and able to work both independently and collaboratively
• Willingness to learn and apply career development knowledge (training provided)
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism when working with peers
• Able to work 8-10 hours per week with a consistent schedule, flexible around class times
• Able to commit to both Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 semesters
• Must be available to attend required onboarding training the week of August 17 or August 24.

Desired Qualifications*

• Preference will be given to students who have participated in one or more of the following: ENGR 399, CECS student organizations, campus volunteer activities, or a student-centered campus job (e.g., orientation leader, tutor, SI leader).
• Experience conducting a successful co-op/internship search
• Previous experience in coaching, mentoring, tutoring, teaching, or customer service

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Due to the nature of the work, this is a 100% on-site position.

Work Schedule

Peer Career Coaches are expected to work approximately 8-10 hours per week with a consistent schedule that flexes around class times during the fall and winter semesters.

This is a two-semester commitment for Fall 2026 and Winter 2027.

There will be required onboarding training the week of August 17 or August 24.
