What to Expect
Tesla is looking for an engineer who will investigate next generation energy products and add them to Telsa's knowledge base. As a member of the Cell Modeling team, this engineer will explore novel battery technologies and consider their feasibility and usefulness for Tesla. The engineer will perform in-depth analysis of existing data and suggest additional tests necessary for Tesla to correctly judge energy products' performance. The engineer will be required to construct lifetime and basic electrochemical models of the new technology while using the limited data currently available.
What You'll Do
- Communicate with different teams across the globe, including travel (up to 20%)
- Analyze novel technologies' data and claims, ascertaining they are reasonable and reproducible
- Suggest additional tests that are necessary for Tesla to correctly value novel products
- Analyze test results to provide insight on cell behavior and degradation mechanisms
- Construct lifetime, electrochemical, and economic models for next generation products based on limited data
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or equivalent experience
- 3 years of industry experience modeling energy products with a physics and chemistry background
- Strong background in numerical methods and a good physics and chemical understanding of energy products
- Modeling (electrochemical, thermal, lifetime) experience \u2013 this role requires translating limited data and claims into quantifiable models
- Excellent communication skills across language and cultural barriers
