Our team test and qualify Teslas large-format in-house cells for electrochemical performance and product reliability.

We work with Cell Manufacturing team and other cross functional teams to deepen our understanding of our battery cells and to improve product performance.

We develop cycle life test plans to evaluate battery performance over time and monitor capacity fade and impedance growth set up new fixtures and execute the plan that enables battery cell performance.

We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate professionals to work on disruptivecutting-edge batteryelectrode technologythat enables Tesla electric vehicles and energy storage systems to be more efficient and reliableBe the Reliability testing owner of the team tying mechanical-based testing with electrochemical tests.

Partner with cell design and quality teams to execute trials that capture impact of edge case scenarios and contribute to holistically improving Teslas In-house cellsIn this role you will execute and shepherd lithium-ion cell tests using cell cycling equipment temperature control fixtures and circulatorsThis role will also write test plans propose design of experiments summarize results in test reports and ensure the highest possible data integrity from the labMentor direct and larger team members in the science of cell characterizations and reliability engineeringIt is essential to be able to plan prioritize and communicate status of lab testing activities to hit project deadlinesBe a member of a cross functional product development team to help determine the ideal cell design for Tesla products Degree or relevant experience in Materials Engineering Mechanical Engineering Chemical Engineering or a related fieldSelf-motivated and a self-starter with hands-on skillsAbility to develop new test concepts and methods and execute independentlySome knowledge of electrochemical test equipment used in battery cell testing or equivalentStrong communication skills and collaborative mindsetUnderstanding of lithium-ion cell safety and its risksSome coding experience required i.e. MATLAB Python andor similar data analysis and statistics tools
