Titan America is seeking a Cement Plant Outage Planner to lead the planning, preparation, scheduling, and coordination of major maintenance outages at Keystone Cement. Reporting to the Director of Maintenance within Titan America's Cement & Engineering team, this role will be responsible for ensuring outages are thoroughly planned and positioned for safe, efficient, and on-time execution.
The Outage Planner will work closely with plant maintenance and operations teams, engineering, procurement, contractors, and corporate technical resources to develop comprehensive outage plans, schedules, resource requirements, budgets, and execution strategies. The role will also support the continued development of standardized outage-planning practices across Titan America's cement operations.
Responsibilities
Lead the detailed planning and preparation of major scheduled plant outages, shutdowns, and significant maintenance activities at Keystone Cement.
Develop comprehensive outage work scopes, schedules, manpower plans, contractor requirements, material needs, equipment requirements, and cost estimates.
Build and maintain integrated outage schedules using appropriate planning and scheduling tools, identifying critical-path activities and potential execution constraints.
Partner with plant maintenance, operations, reliability, and engineering teams to define outage scope and ensure work is appropriately prioritized and planned.
Coordinate with Procurement to ensure materials, parts, equipment, and contractor services are identified and secured well in advance of scheduled outages.
Develop detailed job plans including labor requirements, estimated hours, tools, equipment, materials, permits, safety requirements, and work sequencing.
Facilitate outage planning meetings and maintain clear accountability for action items, milestones, and readiness activities.
Establish and track outage-readiness milestones leading up to each shutdown and escalate risks that could impact safety, cost, schedule, or production.
Coordinate contractor planning, mobilization requirements, site logistics, and work sequencing in partnership with plant leadership.
Support safe outage execution by ensuring work packages incorporate applicable safety procedures, permits, lockout/tagout requirements, and contractor expectations.
Track outage execution against the established schedule and support daily progress reporting, schedule updates, and recovery planning when work deviates from plan.
Monitor outage spending against approved budgets and provide visibility to cost commitments, forecasted costs, and variances.
Lead post-outage reviews to capture lessons learned, analyze schedule and cost performance, and identify opportunities to improve future shutdowns.
Develop and maintain outage-planning standards, templates, schedules, and best practices that can be leveraged across Titan America's cement operations.
Partner with the Director of Maintenance and broader Cement & Engineering team on long-term maintenance planning, major repair programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Support coordination of capital projects that overlap with or are executed during major plant outages.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent heavy-industrial maintenance and outage-planning experience will be considered.
5+ years of maintenance planning, outage planning, project scheduling, or maintenance execution experience in cement, mining, aggregates, power generation, steel, chemicals, or other heavy industrial environments.
Demonstrated experience planning and executing complex plant shutdowns or major maintenance outages.
Strong understanding of industrial maintenance practices, including mechanical and electrical maintenance, contractor management, and work planning.
Experience with CMMS/EAM systems and project scheduling software.
Strong scheduling, organizational, analytical, and project-management skills.
Ability to coordinate multiple contractors, internal resources, and competing work priorities within compressed outage schedules.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with plant leadership, hourly maintenance teams, engineers, contractors, and corporate functions.
Strong commitment to safety and experience working within established industrial safety and permitting requirements.
