Provides instructional services specified in the Job Corps Policy Requirement Handbook (PRH) pertaining to the Career Preparation Period (CPP). The Center Preparation Program Specialist (CPPS) may instruct students in either academic and/or non-academic subjects and will develop instructional materials relevant to the Career Preparation Period (CPP) week in which he/she is assigned and defined by the Career Development Services System Plan.
Job Duties:
Instructs students in specific subject matter to improve their employability in accordance with set guidelines. Instructs students and provides one on one interaction with students to prepare students to take required tests by providing them with the related subject matter in both oral and written form. Provides additional help and guidance to assist students with special learning needs. Administers and grades required testing according to requirements of the Policy Requirement Handbook (PRH). Reviews tests and evaluates students' work and knowledge of subject matter. Counsels students in regard to progress and performance. Assesses, develops and maintains instructional materials, and an inventory of supplies and equipment. Prepares, maintains and submits required reports, student evaluations, and other internal and external records. Participates in committee assignments as required. Maintains classroom discipline and control of student conduct. Stabilizes and strengthens self-concept of all students in order to become functional and employable. Models, mentors, and monitors per the Career Success Standards - both in the classroom and out of the classroom. Participates as a facilitator or observer as scheduled as part of the Center's Positive Normative Culture (PNC). Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No supervisory responsibility.
Qualifications:EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or six (6) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Elementary or Secondary education degrees preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
No additional experience required.
COMPUTER SKILLS
An individual should have knowledge of Internet, Spreadsheet and Word Processing software.

Employee must not and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG’s Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA’s List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG’s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.
