GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Career Preparation Specialist Lead with experience delivering advanced career readiness instruction, case management, and student development services within the Job Corps environment. Skilled in facilitating CPP curriculum, monitoring student progress through the CDSS process, supporting employability and workplace success skills, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to promote student retention, achievement, and successful career transitions. Demonstrates strong leadership, mentoring, documentation, and conflict resolution abilities while maintaining compliance with PRH and center policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Deliver structured career preparation curriculum.
• Responsible for delivering supplemental training and leadership development.
• Monitor student progress, attendance, and participation in career readiness activities.
• Maintain accurate electronic student records, case notes, assessments, and progress documentation.
• Collaborates in organizing career fairs, employer recruitment events, community partnerships, and workbased learning initiatives.
• Supports students in achieving postsecondary, military, or employment placement.
• Identifies barriers to student success and coordinates needed support services.
• Ensure compliance with Job Corps policies, Center Operating Procedures, and Department of Labor standards.
• Participate in audits, quality assurance reviews, staff training, and departmental meetings.
• May assist in mentoring or training entry-level staff members and facilitating program improvement initiatives.
• Maintains classroom discipline and control of student conduct.
• Develop innovative retention strategies, facilitate committee meetings, and contribute to student intervention initiatives designed to promote success and improve retention rates.
• Models, mentors, and monitors per the Career Success Standards, per the PRH R.11 – 3.4 – both in the classroom and out.
• Engages in required meetings, training, and professional development per DOL and center guidelines.
• Ensures ongoing compliance by staying current with all changes, amendments and guidance in the PRH which is accessible at any time.
• Comply with all Department of Labor guidelines, PRH requirements, Center policies and procedures, and Cherokee Nation Human Resources policies.
LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY
• Lead position.
• Provides guidance and direction to team members.
• Assignments received in broad terms with timelines and objective set.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree from a college or university; or six (6) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets the requirements for the Cherokee Nation underwriting variables.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
• Must possess or obtain CPR and First Aid Certification. If not certified, must obtain within 90 days of hire and maintain through duration of employment.

• The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
• Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for childcare.
