Job Description

A well-established New Jersey General Contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee public construction projects throughout Central Jersey. The ideal candidate will have experience managing schools, police stations, municipal buildings, or other government-funded projects from preconstruction through closeout.

Our client is an established New Jersey General Contractor specializing in public, educational, municipal, and institutional construction. They maintain a steady backlog of public work and offer Project Managers the opportunity to take ownership of projects from start to finish.

Description

Manage public construction projects from award through completion.

Oversee project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and procurement.

Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.

Lead meetings with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.

Coordinate closely with Superintendents and field teams.

Review drawings and specifications for scope and constructability.

Track project costs and maintain accurate forecasts.

Manage subcontractor contracts, scopes, and payment applications.

Ensure compliance with public-sector contract requirements.

Oversee punch lists, turnover, and project closeout.

Profile

5+ years of construction Project Management experience.

NJ public construction experience strongly preferred.

Experience with schools, police stations, municipal buildings, government facilities, or similar public work.

General Contractor experience preferred.

Knowledge of prevailing wage and public construction requirements.

Strong scheduling, budgeting, and subcontractor management experience.

Ability to read architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings.

Procore or similar construction management software experience.

Strong communication and client-facing skills.
