    Description

    Operations Leadership

    • Leads the Central Plant operations team managing the production and distribution of steam, chilled water, electricity, purified water, and conditioned water systems.
    • Evaluates operations, identify opportunities for improvement, and implements needed changes.
    • Coordinates with onsite and vendor maintenance teams as a subject matter expert to aid with repair and modification plans.
    • Provides support by scheduling equipment maintenance and inspections with internal and external parties.
    • Ensures compliance with all internal and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Maintains and optimizes systems by leveraging SCADA and use system data to identify performance metrics and create reports on operational status.
    • Collaborates with community outreach initiatives and serves as a key leader in sustainability efforts by defining projects associated with the Plant''s energy efficiency and energy consumption.
    • Initiates and/or modifies standard operational procedures to assure maximum availability, safety, and cleanliness in all operations.
    • Analyzes equipment operation to detect and alleviate problems that arise.
    • Recognizes common equipment maintenance needs and coordinates equipment maintenance outages.
    • Provides leadership and direction for the long-term success of the Central Plants.
    • Monitors and reports on the useful life of all major plant systems and initiates plans to repair, upgrade or replace the same to ensure adequate redundancy and continuity of plant operations.
    • Contributes to the continuous planning for energy efficiency upgrades.

    Personnel Management

    • Manages and schedules the team of central plant operators, mechanics, technicians, and external support teams responsible for the 24/7/365 Central Plant operations.
    • Mentors, coaches, and leads the team to maintain a healthy and effective working environment.
    • Identifies people's development needs and creates individual development plans.
    • Trains employees and monitors to ensure operational safety and stewardship.

    Project Management

    • Identifies operational improvement opportunities and provides input at project proposal and feasibility phase to discuss the intent of the project and review the operational needs of the proposed projects.
    • Ability to foster a cohesive, collaborative, and independent team environment that can make decisions in an effective, efficient, and timely manner.
    • Leads and/or manages a variety of utility maintenance and upgrade projects in and around Central Plants.
    • Schedules and coordinate all work/projects at the Central Plants with internal and external personnel to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient Central Plant operations.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Knowledge of project delivery processes.
    • Knowledge of utility management strategies best practices and utility economics.
    • Knowledge of applicable industry standards and guidelines related to central plant design and operation.
    • Knowledge of sustainability best practices.
    • Knowledge of general industry safety best practices.
    • Data analysis and reporting using utility and system performance data knowledge.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Technology-based tools to collect, interpret and analyze critical energy consumption information skills.
    • Public speaking and presentation skills to large groups.
