At Valley Presbyterian Hospital, our Sterile Processing team plays a critical role in patient safety and surgical excellence. We're seeking a detail-oriented Central Sterile Processing Technician to ensure all surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and ready for use.
What You'll Do
- Collect, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, sterilize, and distribute surgical instruments and supplies
- Disassemble, clean, and reassemble equipment following manufacturer instructions and aseptic techniques
- Operate sterilization equipment and ensure all sterilization parameters are met and documented
- Inspect instruments for functionality and completeness; replace as needed
- Assemble procedure trays, case carts, and emergency carts accurately
- Fulfill supply and equipment requests (electronic, verbal, or written) in a timely manner
- Support emergency and urgent requests with efficiency and accuracy
- Maintain clean, organized, and compliant work areas
- Collaborate with clinical teams to support optimal patient care
What You Bring
- Strong knowledge of sterilization techniques, infection control, and workflow processes
- Experience with instrument cleaning, inspection, and assembly
- Familiarity with surgical instruments and supply sets preferred
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Sterile Processing, Central Service, or Operating Room preferred
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Current certification through HSPA or CBSPD required
- Ability to obtain LA City Fire Card within 30 days of hire
Key Responsibilities
Assembly & Sterilization:
- Assemble instrument trays and sterilize equipment per established procedures
- Perform cleaning and decontamination using proper techniques and equipment
- Ensure all sterilization documentation is complete and accurate
Distribution & Inventory:
- Deliver and restock supplies and equipment
- Process and fulfill requisitions and urgent requests
Standards & Compliance:
- Maintain compliance with infection control, safety, and regulatory standards
- Ensure all work meets or exceeds quality expectations
Teamwork & Operations:
- Support department operations and collaborate with leadership and peers
- Maintain professional, positive working relationships
