Position Overview Central Sterile Technician (Travel Contract)
The Central Sterile Technician (CST) is responsible for decontamination, sterilization, assembly, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment. This role plays a critical part in maintaining patient safety and supporting surgical teams.
Job Responsibilities- Perform decontamination, cleaning, and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment
- Assemble instrument trays and procedure carts according to established guidelines
- Operate sterilization equipment including steam sterilizers, autoclaves, and low-temperature systems
- Monitor biological and chemical indicators to ensure sterilization effectiveness
- Maintain accurate documentation of sterilization processes and instrument tracking
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage
- Ensure compliance with infection control policies, AAMI standards, and facility procedures
- Collaborate with OR staff and clinical departments to meet case demands
- Maintain inventory levels and ensure proper storage of sterile supplies
Education & Certification Requirements- High School Diploma or GED required
- Completion of a Central Sterile Processing or Surgical Technology program preferred
- Current CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician)
- Minimum of 12 years of recent Central Sterile or Sterile Processing experience preferred
- Knowledge of sterilization standards, infection prevention, and instrument tracking systems
Compensation & Benefits- Weekly compensation up to $1,800 based on experience
- 13-week local travel contract
