Community Action, Inc. of Central Texas (CAI) has served rural Hays, Caldwell, and surrounding counties since 1965, offering programs in workforce development and adult education, rental and utility assistance, Head Start and Early Head Start, Parents as Teachers home visiting, and health services including Medicaid enrollment and rural HIV/AIDS case management. Because these programs operate across separate departments, many eligible residents in CAI''s rural service area are unaware the help exists or are unsure how to access it, and CAI currently lacks a coordinated way to reach them with clear, consistent information. The Community Outreach VISTA member will build the communications infrastructure CAI needs to close that gap. This member will develop outreach strategies and messaging that are accessible and community-informed, create sustainable systems for social media, print materials, and web content that any CAI program can use, and strengthen referral partnerships with community-based organizations across the region. This is capacity-building work: the member will not deliver direct services to clients, but will build the tools, materials, and relationships that make CAI''s outreach measurably stronger long after the VISTA term ends. This position partners closely with a second VISTA member focused on data and evaluation, pairing public-facing strategy with data insight to strengthen how CAI reaches the communities it serves. Member Duties : As a Community Outreach VISTA member, you''ll build the tools and relationships CAI uses to connect eligible families with the help they need. You''ll craft outreach strategies and messaging that are clear, accessible, and shaped by community input, and build out social media, print, and web content that any CAI program can pick up and use. You''ll strengthen partnerships and referral pathways with community organizations across the region, plan outreach events focused on rural and underserved communities, and train CAI staff to use the tools and messaging frameworks you create. You''ll document everything you build so it keeps working after your service year ends. Throughout your term, you''ll work side by side with CAI''s Community Impact VISTA member, using their data findings to sharpen your strategy, and you''ll represent CAI at coalition meetings and community events.
