Centrifugal Compression Reliability Technician

Mission

Ensure reliability and peak performance of centrifugal air compressors for customers throughout the Kansas City, MO region through expert field service, precise troubleshooting, and proactive maintenance.

Where and when you work

• Location: Kansas City, MO (regional travel)
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM
• Work style: Field-based with daily customer visits, occasional overtime, and regular overnight stays

Impact you’ll make

• Install and commission centrifugal compressors to spec.
• Execute preventive maintenance programs and answer emergency calls.
• Diagnose and correct mechanical faults, electrical issues across 120/208/240/480V systems, and control anomalies.
• Advise customers on equipment health, repair strategies, and next steps.

What it takes

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on centrifugal compressor service experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license (12+ months) with no major or frequent violations: DUI within 5 years, hit & run, license suspension, reckless/careless driving, or multiple minor violations/preventable collisions in the last 3 years.
• Proven mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability.
• Background in field service or industrial maintenance.
• Ability to regularly use hands/fingers, walk, stoop, kneel, and lift/move weights per safety policy.

Capabilities that set you apart

• Microsoft Office fluency; solid general computer skills.
• Ease with smartphones/iPads and network-connected tools.
• Customer-facing communication, documentation, negotiation, and conflict resolution strengths.

Preferred background

• OEM or distributor experience.
• OEM training with brands like Ingersoll Rand, Kaeser, or Hitachi.

Rewards

• Pay: $35.00–$50.00/hour plus quarterly bonuses.
• Sign-on: $3,000.
• Typical starting range: $35.00–$45.00/hour, depending on qualifications and experience; full-time hourly position, with top-of-range offers uncommon.
