Position Summary

The Certified Respiratory Therapist assesses, treats, and cares for patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary disorders. This role is responsible for delivering therapeutic procedures, managing advanced respiratory equipment, and supporting high-acuity patient populations, including neonates.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and treat patients with respiratory conditions
• Initiate and manage therapeutic respiratory procedures
• Operate ventilators, pulmonary diagnostics, and physiologic monitoring equipment
• Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) collection and analysis
• Provide airway management, oxygen therapy, and ventilatory support
• Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams
• Ensure compliance with Orlando Health policies and clinical standards

Qualifications

Education

• Associate degree from an approved Respiratory Care program
  (Certificate accepted if licensed prior to December 31, 2008)

Licensure & Certifications

• Certified by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• Current Florida Respiratory Therapist License
• Current BLS (Healthcare Provider) certification
• Advanced Life Support (as required by unit/site)

Preferred:

• Active membership in AARC and/or FSRC

Experience

• No experience required – new graduates are encouraged to apply
