JOB TITLE: Certified Spanish Language Interpreter
REPORTS TO: The Office for Student Support Services Supervisor(s),
SUMMARY: The Certified Spanish Language Interpreter assists with verbal interpretation and translation. He/she also provides interpreting services in a native language and in English in a variety of professional and personal settings. He/she provides translations for a variety of documents in a native language and in English for a variety of professional and personal documents. He/she assists in the implementation of diversity and inclusion initiatives for the Lawrence Public Schools.
DUTIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS POSITION INCLUDE:
- Fluency in English and Spanish
- Willing and able to attend all training sessions.
- Flexible schedule.
- Certifications that verify completion of professional training.
- Able to work independently using sound judgment and professional ethics.
- Able to interpret body language and use memory skills.
- Promotes dialogue and aids in the interaction among participants.
- Facilitates, teaches, and participates in the delivery of multicultural educational experiences.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid certificate appropriate for the position.
- Meets all mandated health screening requirements
- A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
- Adheres to Code of Professional Conduct
- Complies with drug-free workplace rules, board policies, and administrative guidelines/procedures. ·Ability to establish working relationships with co-workers and function as part of a cohesive team.
- Commitment to keep current with skills essential to the objectives of the position.
- Ability to facilitate student/family access to appropriate community resources.
PREFERRED:
- Associate's degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Prior Experience in a school setting preferred
- Experience in IDEA policy and procedures.
WORK YEAR: Full-time, 183 Days/Annually, $36,859 - $54,614
OTHER: Benefits in accordance with the School District guidelines
