Certified Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC)

A community-based behavioral health organization is seeking a Certified Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) in New York, NY to provide substance use and recovery counseling in a multidisciplinary treatment setting. The role focuses on intakes, individual and group counseling, treatment planning, and timely documentation for adults receiving medication-assisted treatment services.

About the Opportunity:

• Shift: Day shift
• Schedule: Monday to Friday
• Hours: 6:15 AM to 1:45 PM
• Setting: In-person clinic

Responsibilities:

• Provide individual and group counseling using trauma-informed, evidence-based, and harm reduction approaches.
• Conduct intakes, assess patient needs, and help develop treatment plans with measurable goals and interventions.
• Support adults with opioid use disorder in a medication-assisted treatment program.
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.
• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, supervision, and ongoing program and clinical activities.

Qualifications:

• CASAC certification with at least 6 months of substance use disorder experience.
• Bachelor's degree, or more than 2 years of CASAC experience in lieu of the degree requirement.
• Ability to complete documentation within 48 hours.
• Experience working with adults in substance use recovery or treatment settings.

Desired Skills:

• Bilingual Spanish
• Experience with medication-assisted treatment programs
• Familiarity with electronic medical records
• Experience with trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, and harm reduction
