Summary:

The Certified Anesthesia Technician is responsible for providing comprehensive support to anesthesia providers in the operating room and other clinical areas. This role encompasses preoperative preparation, intraoperative support, postoperative duties, emergency response, and general maintenance of anesthesia equipment and supplies to ensure safe and efficient patient care. The technician must possess strong technical knowledge of anesthesia machines, monitoring systems, and sterile techniques while being able to respond quickly and effectively to clinical needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain compliance with hospital safety protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Keep up-to-date with advancements in anesthesia technology and procedures.
  • Train and mentor new anesthesia technicians and OR staff in equipment use and maintenance.
  • Respond promptly to anesthesia personnel requests for supplies, support, or emergency interventions

Requirements:

Education/Skills

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Courses in medical terminology and basic physiology are preferred.

Experience

  • One year of direct patient contact experience as an Emergency Medical Technician, Licensed Practical Nurse or related clinical experience required.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

  • Anesthesia Technician Certification required.
  • BLS issued through American Heart Association preferred.

In accordance with the CHRISTUS Health License, Certification and Registration Verification Policy, all Associates are required to obtain the required certifications for their respective positions within the designated time frame.
