Northern California | Field-Based Environmental Consulting

B2 Environmental, a UES company, is seeking an experienced Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) or Asbestos Site Surveillance Technician (CSST) to support environmental assessment, compliance, and monitoring projects throughout Northern California.

 

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced asbestos professional who enjoys field work, problem-solving, and working independently while supporting a wide range of commercial, industrial, public sector, and redevelopment projects.

This is a remote, field-based position with regional travel throughout Northern California.

Pay Range: USD $35.00 - USD $50.00 /Hr. Responsibilities:

What You'll Do

As a key member of our environmental team, you will help clients navigate asbestos-related compliance requirements while supporting environmental investigation and monitoring activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

    • Conducting asbestos surveys, inspections, and sampling activities in accordance with California regulations
    • Performing air monitoring and environmental monitoring to support construction, renovation, demolition, and remediation projects
    • Providing on-site oversight during asbestos-related field activities
    • Reviewing laboratory results and interpreting environmental data
    • Preparing technical reports, field documentation, and regulatory deliverables
    • Communicating findings and recommendations to project managers, clients, and stakeholders
    • Maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations
    • Supporting project planning, scheduling, and documentation efforts
    • Promoting safe work practices and maintaining high-quality field records

We're looking for a self-motivated environmental professional who is comfortable working independently in the field and delivering high-quality technical work.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, post-secondary education is considered an asset.
  • Excellent written (Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio (CAD equivalent)) and verbal communication skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write technical documents and field reports.
  • Excellent observational, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Completion of an accredited asbestos training program
  • Valid asbestos handling certification
  • Basic knowledge of safety regulations and protocols
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel for field assignments and work in remote outdoor environments.

     

    CERTIFICATIONS

  • Active California certification as either a CSST (Asbestos Site Surveillance Technician) or CAC (Certified Asbestos Consultant)
Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • DSHS Licensed Asbestos Air Monitoring Technician (NIOSH 582 Equivalency)
  • Asbestos Project Manager, Management Planner, or Project Designer credentials
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification
  • Mold, lead-based paint, or radon certifications
  • Experience supporting environmental consulting, industrial hygiene, remediation, construction, or redevelopment projects
Travel Requirements:

This position requires moderate travel, approximately up to 70% of the time with overnight stays, in support of business objectives and client engagements. Travel may be both scheduled and on short notice, depending on project needs. Destinations typically include job sites, field locations, or regional offices, where work may be conducted in outdoor or operational environments. Adherence to all company safety protocols and use of PPE is required during travel and on-site work.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

This position primarily works in an outdoor work environment, regularly exposed to varying field conditions, including:

  • Sites that may not be accessible by vehicle, requiring travel on foot through wetlands, swamps, grasslands, fields, and other uneven or rugged terrain with natural and man-made obstacles such as sand, brush, and debris.
  • Moderate to loud noise levels, common in active construction and industrial environments.
  • Exposure to environmental elements including dirt, dust, sun, heat, humidity, and adverse weather conditions.

     

    The physical requirements for this position may include and are not limited to:

  • Ability to lift and/or carry 35 to 75 lbs. up to 75 feet, involving regular repetitive motion.
  • Ability to stand, walk, drive, and operate equipment for extended periods.
  • Frequent use of hands and arms for typing, handling tools, and operating equipment.
  • Ability to bend, twist, reach, stoop, pull, kneel, climb, balance, lift, carry, and push as required for fieldwork and inspections.
  • Ability to speak and hear effectively to communicate in noisy environments and with project teams.
  • Ability to use your senses to see (including close, distant, and peripheral vison, depth vision, and ability to focus) smell, hear, touch (use hands to reach climb or balance, crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit).
