Minimum Annual Salary $45,000 Salary Band: UC S04 Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Athletic Trainer will work collaboratively with the Associate Athletic Director for Sports Health, Wright State University Team Physicians, and additional support staff to ensure our student-athletes are provided with services that center on prevention, emergency care, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. This is a 12-month position which requires work and travel throughout the year. The sport assignment will be Baseball.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Athletic Training or related field
- Board of Certification recognition as a certified athletic trainer
- Eligibility to meet Ohio Athletic Trainers' Licensure
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 Years of Certified Athletic Training Experience
Essential Functions and percent of time:
30% - Consultations/Evaluations:
- Recognize and evaluate injuries and illnesses both on the field and in the athletic training room.
- Determine proper treatment plan (i.e. return to play, emergency transport, physician referral).
- Organize and implement pre-season team physicals. Coordinate treatment protocols with team physicians.
30% - Treatments/Rehabilitation:
- Implement proper treatment/rehabilitation protocols.
- Determine which exercises and modalities are needed to effectively return a student-athlete to play.
- Keep current standard rehabilitation protocols updated.
- Develop, implement and evaluate rehabilitation programs on a daily basis until patient is medically cleared to return to play.
20% - Event Coverage/Travel:
- On site coverage for various sporting events throughout the year.
- Travel to all events with assigned team.
- Requires numerous weekends and holidays along with many 7-day workweeks throughout the year.
- Provide athletic training coverage for practices and games.
- Additional sport coverage as assigned.
20% - Staff Administrative Duties as Assigned
- Record keeping for all athletic injuries, treatments, and rehabilitation.
- Orient coaches and student athletes on athletic training room policy and procedures.
- Maintain communication with the Associate Athletic Director for Sports Health, coaches and administration.
- Coordinate the collection and filing of all insurance claims.
- Communicate with student athletes and parents on insurance policy and procedure.
- Additional administrative tasks as assigned.
