Athletic Trainer – High School Sports Coverage

• Position: Athletic Trainer
• Location: Geneva and Dundee, NY
• Additional Coverage: Penn Yan and Mynderse, as needed
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, with occasional Saturdays
• Work Settings: Local high schools, physician practices, and hospital/medical clinics

Required Qualifications

• Certification: NATABOC Certification required
• BLS Certification: Required
• Minimum Age: 21 years or older, per NYS regulations
• Preferred Experience: 1–2 years of experience as an Athletic Trainer in a high school or physician practice setting

Key Responsibilities

• Provide athletic training coverage at local high schools, primarily in Geneva and Dundee, with occasional coverage in Penn Yan and Mynderse.
• Assess and manage athletic injuries under physician supervision, including injury prevention, conditioning, rehabilitation, and reconditioning.
• Provide coverage for home athletic competitions, including varsity and selected non-varsity events based on school needs and sport-specific risk.
• Provide practice coverage for varsity and non-varsity sports as coordinated with athletic directors.
• Apply protective taping, wraps, and braces to help prevent injuries and support injured athletes.
• Assist in designing practices and implementing injury-prevention strategies to reduce the risk of athletic injuries.
• Educate coaches, athletes, parents, and medical personnel on injury prevention, recognition, treatment, and rehabilitation.
• Conduct workshops for school staff on injury prevention, CPR, injury recognition, treatment, and rehabilitation.
• Assist physical therapists and physicians with patient care, including equipment organization, linen changes, bracing, and splinting.
• Promote and market the athletic training program within the school district and medical community through flyers, brochures, and media contacts.

Schedule & Coverage Expectations

• Provide coverage for scheduled sporting events and practices based on school and organizational requirements.
• Coordinate athletic event coverage with athletic directors and the hiring organization.
• Cover most varsity contests and selected non-varsity events based on scheduling and risk considerations.
• Provide occasional Saturday coverage as required.
