GLPP Lakeshore Orthopedics and Sports Medicine is seeking a Certified Athletic Trainer to join their team! This full-time position will work Monday through Thursday from 8:00am to 4:30pm and Friday from 7:30am to 4:00pm. No holidays, evenings or weekends are required. Travel to other office locations in Jamestown and Hamburg may be required up to 20% of the time to support staffing needs. Eligible candidates may qualify for a sign-on bonus up to $10,000.00 with a 2-year commitment to UPMC.

Responsibilities:

  • Actively participates in department or practice-specific quality improvement efforts.

  • Practices solid communication skills and can articulate and translate the patient's condition to other care providers and to negotiate and make recommendations for changes in patient care and office practices.
  • Patient documentation is comprehensive and promotes communication between caregivers.
  • Conducts and analyzes athlete's functional skills to determine return to play/competition.
  • Educates patients, families, coaches and appropriate community agencies to establish the most effective means of rehabilitation.
  • Communicates and partners with Athletic Trainers working in the community at the college/university level and high school level.
  • Provides crutch training for various weight bearing statuses, provides DME fitting and education on appropriate DME use.
  • Assists physicians and APPs in cast application and removal, splint fabrication and application.
  • Demonstrates accountability for professional development that improves the quality of professional practice and the quality of patient care.
  • Actively participates in practice-based shared governance, goal setting and supports the change and transition process to improve quality of care and the practice environment.
  • Serves as a highly engaged and full partner on the care team and responds willingly to care team member needs for assistance and partnership.
