Certified Athletic Trainer (PRN)

JOB SUMMARY:

The Certified Athletic Trainer (AT) is responsible for providing high-quality athletic training services and medical coverage for student-athletes participating in school-sponsored athletic activities. The AT works collaboratively with student-athletes, coaches, school personnel, parents/guardians, healthcare providers, and other members of the sports medicine team to promote health and safety, prevent injuries, evaluate and manage athletic injuries and illnesses, and support safe return to participation.

The AT provides coverage for designated athletic practices, competitions, and school-sponsored events and serves as a resource for injury prevention, emergency response, rehabilitation, and care coordination.

Schedule:

• PRN (As needed for scheduled event coverage)

Compensation:

• $30.07/hr + DOE
• PRN Differential
• Shift Differentials

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide athletic training coverage for designated school athletic practices, competitions, and events.
2. Evaluate acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries and illnesses sustained during athletic participation and determine appropriate initial management and disposition within the AT's scope of practice.
3. Provide immediate care and emergency response for athletic injuries and medical conditions in accordance with established protocols and applicable laws and regulations.
4. Develop and implement appropriate injury management, rehabilitation, and return-to-play plans in collaboration with the student-athlete, parents/guardians, coaches, and healthcare providers as appropriate.
5. Provide injury prevention education and guidance to student-athletes, coaches, and school personnel.
6. Perform therapeutic interventions, rehabilitation exercises, taping, bracing, and other athletic training services within the AT's scope of practice.
7. Maintain appropriate medical supplies, equipment, and emergency response materials and ensure they are available and prepared for practices, competitions, and events.
8. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of injury evaluations, treatments, rehabilitation, and other athletic training services in accordance with organizational and school requirements.
9. Communicate appropriately with parents/guardians, coaches, school personnel, and healthcare providers regarding injuries, treatment recommendations, restrictions, and return-to-participation status while maintaining confidentiality.
10. Assist with coordination of referrals, diagnostic testing, physician evaluations, and follow-up care when indicated.
11. Monitor environmental and activity-related risks and provide recommendations regarding safe participation, including recognition and management of heat illness, concussion, and other sports-related medical conditions.
12. Maintain a professional and collaborative relationship with school administration, coaches, student-athletes, families, and members of the healthcare team.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Maintain compliance with applicable state and federal regulations, professional standards, school district policies, and Livingston HealthCare policies governing athletic training and student-athlete care.
2. Participate in continuing education and maintain current professional certifications and licensure.
3. May provide education or training to coaches, school personnel, student-athletes, and families related to injury prevention, emergency response, and other sports medicine topics.
4. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (Required):

1. Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers.
2. State licensure (or eligibility) as an Athletic Trainer in Montana.
3. Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, Master’s degree in Athletic Training or related field preferred.
4. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
5. Excellent communication and patient interaction skills.
