Are you passionate about positively impacting the lives of dogs and their owners? Pawsitive Dawg Walking and Pet Sitting, a leader in fear free and force free pet care, is looking for an experienced and dedicated Certified Dog Trainer to join our dynamic team to help with our Walk and Train services and mentor our current dog walking team members. What We're Looking For:

-Certification: A professional certification in Dog Training is preferred. Candidates eligible to sit for certification boards within the next 6 months are also encouraged to apply.

-Experience: Candidates must have a minimum of three years of experience in dog training.

-Fear Free Commitment: Candidates must be Fear Free certified or willing to become certified. Our commitment to a fear-free approach is at the heart of everything we do.

-Force-Free Philosophy: A strong belief in and adherence to force-free training methods. We strictly prohibit the use of force, punishment, or intimidating methods.

-Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a team that values compassion, respect, and continued learning.

-Availability: Mondays-Fridays between 10-2pm


Compensation:

-Direct deposit paid weekly.

-Starting pay rate is $20-35/hr depending on experience

-We pay you by the service (commission) + mileage reimbursement + cell phone stipend + 100% tips.

-Depending on your availability and experience, this is a great way to earn supplemental income

-You can make extra money if you are willing to provide pet sitting services (dogs and cats) and pick up extra hours, provide overnights, or work on weekends.

Experience and Skills Requirements

-At least 3 years of experience providing dog training experiences

-Comfortable walking both big and small dogs for a mile or more

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills for direct client and Pet Care Manager communication

-Must be extremely organized, dependable, self-motivated, and have a positive attitude

-Ability to evaluate behavior and temperament of client dogs to tailor walking strategies and identify behavioral issues

-Knowledge in dog body language and psychology


Work Conditions:

-Follow a schedule provided by the Pet Care Manager

-Hours areflexible but preferably available for training support during our busy times of Monday through Friday between 10-4pm; paperwork can be done whenever is convenient for you

-Consultations may be scheduled in the evening or weekends depending on your availability

-Comfortable providing Walk and Train services in all New England weather conditions for varying durations and distance

-Ability to quickly and efficiently respond to inquiries from the team

-Prepared to handle common dog behavior questions/issues from staff that may arise during walks


Training Responsibilities:

-Provide customized training, including plans, demonstrations, feedback, and ongoing support for PDWPS staff and clients

-Keep staff and clients updated on best practices in dog training

-Mentor and be a resource for staff working toward becoming dog trainers

-Create branded handouts/resources for staff and clients

-Develop customized services, socialization programs, and specialized programs for different client needs, including puppies and fearful/reactive dogs

-Provide regular updates, progress reports, guidance, and tips to owners and staff on dogs with behavioral issues

-Offer guidance to owners on reinforcing training at home and educate them on the benefits of regular exercise and mental stimulation for their dogs

-Develop private training programs

-Provide written reports for owners as requested 

-Anything you have already created, or anything you create on your own time as part of your independent work, remains yours and you are absolutely welcome to use it under your own brand, including with our team and our clients.

-If we specifically commission you to create a custom resource for Pawsitive and we pay you for the development time, then that deliverable would be owned by Pawsitive for internal and client use.

-We are very open to a shared use approach for commissioned materials so you can also use the same content under your own brand, as long as it does not include our proprietary policies, internal processes, client lists, or anything that is uniquely "Pawsitive specific." We are also happy to co brand when it makes sense.


Safety and Maintenance:

-Maintain control and ensure the safety of all animals under care

-Maintain security of clients' homes during visits

-Pick up and properly dispose of pet waste


Client Communication:

- Provide a daily note in the scheduling app with a photo following each session to confirm services and update the owner and PDWPS

-Review and provide feedback on current handling/walking/training skills standards to ensure happy walks and well-behaved dogs
