Position Summary:
The Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) evaluates and treats patients with swelling (lymphedema) using specialized techniques like manual lymphatic drainage (MLD), compression therapy (bandaging/garments), and therapeutic exercises to reduce edema and improve function.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- One (1) year clinical experience as a CLT preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
- Licensed by the state of South Carolina board of Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy.
- Lymphedema Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist Certification required (LANA or equivalent).
- BLS Certification required.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive evaluations, identify swelling causes, and assess severity using objective measurements.
- Develop individualized plan of care including MLD, multi-layer bandaging, therapeutic exercise, and skin care.
- Direct and aid patients in therapeutic exercises, muscle re-education and functional training.
- Measure for and fit custom/ready-to-wear compression garments.
- Explain therapeutic plans and procedures to patients to allay fears and to obtain cooperation in gaining the maximum benefit from therapy.
- Plan post-discharge follow-up and home referrals for patients.
- Maintain records and files reflecting up-to-date patient progress, care plans and related statistical data as required by departmental policies.
- Participate in training and educating rehab staff, and students in rehab techniques and objectives.
- Greet all patients and their accompanying family members when applicable and provide exemplary customer service.
- Work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues, physicians, and department heads.
- Effectively utilize strong organizational skills.
- Consistently display effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient use and understanding of technology/PC skills.
- Regularly exercise independent judgment.
