A health services organization in New York City is seeking a certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join their growing team in Brooklyn.
About the Opportunity:
- Shift: Day
- Schedule: Monday to Friday (rotates to Monday, Tuesday, and Friday every 3 weeks)
- Hours: 9am to 5pm (rotating 11:00 AM-7:00 PM schedule every 3 weeks)
- Setting: Onsite
Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical support to providers by rooming patients and obtaining vital signs, height, weight, pain scale, and related information
- Perform phlebotomy, collect and process specimens, and carry out point-of-care testing and quality control procedures
- Assist with EKGs, patient procedures, chaperone duties, and preparation of supplies and exam rooms
- Document patient data, medication information, and test results in the electronic medical record
- Support administrative and care coordination tasks such as scheduling, prescription processing, prior authorizations, and patient education
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- 1+ year of experience as a Medical Assistant (MA)
- High School Diploma / GED
- Completion of a Medical Assistant (MA) program
- National certification as a Medical Assistant (MA)
- Current AHA Heartsaver/BLS certification.
- Experience with vital signs, phlebotomy, EKGs, rapid testing, and basic electronic medical record documentation
Desired Skills:
- Bilingual (English and Spanish)
- Experience in an Ambulatory Care role/setting
- Familiarity with ECW or another Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
- Experience in Community Health or Primary Care settings
- Experience supporting LGBTQ+, HIV, Medicaid, or Homeless patient populations
- Psychiatry background
