    Overview

    QuarterLine (QL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to provide high-quality, comprehensive patient care at Madigan Army Medical Center (MAMC), Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM), WA. This position plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment in support of the military healthcare mission.The Certified Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support in outpatient primary and specialty care clinics under the direction and supervision of Government healthcare providers. CMAs may support newborn, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients in Family Practice, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, and other specialty clinics.

    Responsibilities may include obtaining and documenting patient histories and vital signs; preparing patients and examination rooms; assisting providers with examinations, procedures, treatments, and minor office surgeries; collecting and processing laboratory specimens; performing basic diagnostic testing such as electrocardiograms and glucose testing; administering authorized injections and medications; maintaining medical records; and supporting patient education, follow-up, scheduling, and other clinic operations.

    This role requires a dependable healthcare professional who can meet all Government qualification, credentialing, security, and onboarding requirements while working under a personal services arrangement. The ideal candidate will hold current CMA certification, have recent outpatient or clinical patient-care experience, demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, and provide safe, compassionate, and professional care to patients from diverse backgrounds while supporting the healthcare mission at MAMC.

    • Duty Location: Madigan Army Medical Center, Joint Base Lewis McChord, Tacoma, WA 98431. No Telework allowed.
    • Duty Hours: 0730-1630, 0600-1700. Shifts may vary depending on clinic assignment.

    Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

    • Obtain and document patient information in the electronic health record (EHR), including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, medical history, and chief complaint.
    • Prepare patients, examination rooms, treatment areas, equipment, and supplies for routine and specialty procedures.
    • Assist providers with examinations, treatments, minor office surgeries, and other clinical procedures while maintaining aseptic and sterile techniques.
    • Administer authorized injections, vaccinations, and medications in accordance with applicable requirements, provider orders, and scope of practice.
    • Collect and process laboratory specimens, including blood, urine, stool, sputum, and microbiological specimens; perform venipuncture and capillary collection as qualified.
    • Perform basic diagnostic testing such as ECGs, respiratory testing, urine dipstick, hemoccult, and glucose testing.
    • Assist with procedures such as physical exams, Pap smears, biopsies, colposcopy, cryosurgery, IUD procedures, and other primary care procedures following validated training and competency requirements.
    • Monitor and report patient complaints, symptoms, changes in condition, and procedure tolerance to the appropriate healthcare provider.
    • Maintain medication and immunization records and assist with test-result follow-up as directed by the provider or Government.
    • Maintain patient safety, confidentiality, infection-control practices, and proper handling/disposal of biohazardous materials.
    • Perform CPR and assist with emergency treatment when necessary.
    • Clean, sterilize, package, and properly handle instruments and equipment in accordance with established procedures.
    • Assist patients with mobility, positioning, and safe movement during examinations and procedures.
    • Support patient check-in, document scanning, appointment scheduling, telephone communications, and provider-directed follow-up.
    • Provide patients with administrative, treatment, and follow-up instructions as directed.
    • Maintain adequate supplies and equipment; perform routine cleaning, storage, minor maintenance, and inventory activities.
    • Assist with orientation of newly assigned personnel and other clinic administrative/support functions as required.
    • Key requirement: Clinical procedures must be performed only when within the Medical Assistant's authorized scope and after required training and competency validation. All duties are performed under the direction and supervision of the Government supervisor/provider.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Experience: Minimum one year experience within the last two years as a certified medical assistant.
    • Legal Authorization to Work in the United States: The contract worker performing under this contract must be a U.S. Citizen.
    • Certification(s):
      • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Certificate
      • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Certification cards must display the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Web-based (on-line) classes are not acceptable by the Government.
    • Degree/Education: Certification, graduate from a medical assistant training program. At a minimum, the medical assistant program must be sponsored or recognized by an educational institution which is accredited by U.S. Departmentof Education (DOE) located at ope.ed.gov. Not required, but preferred, the medical assistant program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP); the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES); the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA); or a formal medial services training program of the United States Armed Forces and /or a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces.
